Hangers for showrooms, fashion shows and presentations

In the showroom and backstage at a fashion show, the collection must be readable in seconds: each look on one hanger, in order, on a rack that can be moved. Here is what experienced brands choose in hangers, rack and bags, and why.
  • One hanger model in one colour for the whole collection, so the eye goes to the garments. Black or natural wood is standard in showrooms.
  • Coat hangers with trouser bar show a whole look on one hanger; a rubberised surface holds smooth fabrics backstage.
  • Rolling Jones and garment bags move the collection between showroom, show and customer. Everything from stock, 1–3 working days.

Three situations, three set-ups

The showroom
The collection hangs in order on racks at rest. Here uniformity and logo count: the buyer sees a hundred hangers at once, and they must be identical. Coat hanger with trouser bar for outfits, shirt hanger for tops.
The fashion show
Backstage, each look hangs ready on one numbered hanger. Rubberised hangers hold silk and satin when the rack is moved. The rack must roll from truck to backstage and stand still in the crush.
The presentation at the customer
The sales rep rolls the collection in on a foldable rack, shows it and packs up. Garment bags protect the garments in the car, and the hangers with logo stay with the customer as part of the brand.

Identical hangers: the first thing the buyer sees

In a showroom the hanger is part of the presentation, just like the light and the walls. Mixed hangers from the factory, the dry cleaner and last season pull attention away from the garments. Choose one model in one colour for the whole collection, and buy enough for spares.

Black lacquer or rubberised black is the standard choice: it gives contrast to light fabrics and hides wear. Natural wood is used by brands that want to show material and craftsmanship. See the colour guide and the collected pages with black hangers and natural wood hangers.

The whole look on one hanger

When a collection is presented as looks, jacket and trousers must hang together. A coat hanger with trouser bar carries the jacket on a 40 mm wide shoulder and the trousers over a coated bar below, so the look can be taken down and hung up as one unit. For tops and dresses, use shirt hangers with notches for straps, and for smooth fabrics rubberised hangersthat hold when the rack rolls.

Backstage at a show the same applies, only faster: each look on one numbered hanger, in the order it goes on. Read more about hangers for suits.

Rack and bags: the collection has to move

Showroom collections travel: to the fair, to the customer, to the show and home again. Rolling Jones is a foldable clothes rack on 19 cm rubber wheels, 98–172 cm wide, that carries 50 kg and folds up in the car. Garment bags in 90 and 130 cm with metal clamp keep the hangers together and the garments clean on the way; four bags with 15–25 styles each fit on one rack. Read the guide to clothes racks on wheels.

Logo: the hanger stays with the customer

In the showroom and at the fair, the logo hanger is a small, constant reminder of whose garments they are. And when the customer takes samples home, the hanger goes too. A logo is printed in 1–2 Pantone colours or laser-engraved from 300 hangers in total, models can be mixed, and the lead time is approx. 3 weeks from approved proof. Add logo blocks on tables and shelves in the showroom. See examples in hangers with logo for stores and hotels.
